Instructions for milling work
We want to keep things simple. Here are brief instructions for milling and placing an order. So let’s do it this way:
- Design the product you want
- The working area of the milling machine is 600 x 600 x 400 mm (XYZ), but figures smaller than this are more realistic to implement.
- Indicate the growth ring direction in the drawings, if relevant.
- Milling machine resolution: XYZ axis: 0.036mm, BC axis: 0.034 degrees. In other words, just accurate enough for woodwork.
- In addition to various types of wood, the mill can do foam, polyurethane modeling board, polyoxymethylene (POM), acetals, acrylics, machining wax, or DuPontTM Corian® solid surface.
- Send the file to us
- to info [at] sagaciouswoodcraft.fi.
- preferably use the step file format . We use Fusion 360, which supports the following file formats: 3dm, asm, cam360, CATPart, CATProduct, dwg, dxf, f3d, fbx, g, iam, ige, iges, igs, ipt, neu, obj, prt, sab, sat, skp, sldasm, sldprt, smb, smt, ste, step, stl, stp, wire, x_b, x_t, 123dx
- Inform us the material you want, the quantity and your contact information.
- Include only one part in one file.
- We program the milling and mill the product
- Before starting milling, we procure the necessary materials. Luthiers and others with very precise requirements for wood can deliver their own wood to Naantali for processing. In this way, the best result is obtained.
- We will send the products to you
- When the work is complete, we will notify you. You can either pick up the product or we will send it to you.
- Payment is made by invoice. The charge is based on a fixed hourly rate.
